Great analysis! I can’t help but wonder how much thillis was providing cover for Cassidy? Cassidy already has one primary challenger, the sitting state treasurer, and I’m sure others would jump in if they saw a weakness. He voted to impeach trump and Louisiana is deep red. Since NC is more purple, was Thillis providing cover for him? This week, discourse towards Cassidy changed when Casey means was announced and now the MAHA crowd is really going after Cassidy now for his treatment/handling of Rfk,jr and Cassidy’s love of vaccines

You have been very kind with your words. The RINO's you refer to deserve much worse.

I moved to NC in 2018 and I do not understand the NC Republican Party, neither at the local level or the National level.

Tillis seems to care nothing for results and only the political process.

As the Uniparty just learned with the subsequent appointment of Martin to the Weaponization Task Force and Judge Periro as AUSA of the DC CIRCUS, Trump plays Chess while Tillis plays tic-tac-toe.........

By Reagan-Bush era GOP I assume you mean neocon (and more Bush than Reagan). I imagine Tillis made this decision knowing Laura Trump is in the wings. If NC primary is closed, he won’t run because it seems almost a certainty he can’t beat her and her MAGA support. If it’s not closed, we’re likely to have another MAGA versus RINO debacle.

On a different topic, we have got to do something about representatives representing their voters and not lobbyists, corporate sponsors, etc. Is this dynamic a result of Citizens United? And if so, is there any chance of overturning this (like Roe). We really seem to be far afield from the representative model envisioned.

Terrific article. Tillis and other RINOs need to be primaries asap.

Primary Tillis with Lara Trump.

She’s a NC native and I’d vote for her in a heartbeat.

It’s my understanding things will be very different soon. The GoP traders will be called out in addition to the democrats. A new government will emerge.

I lived in NC back in the 70s, and the Democrats were pretty strong. Of course, lots of other states like MO were a bluish purple color but that has changed with time. I’d love a successful primary for Tillis. I predict he’s going to have a tough election and he knows it.

It is my hope that more of them join John McCain in a nice, warm place.
