Even without an indictment, there is a compelling justification for the results to be published in a report -- and that would not be inconsistent with DOJ policy.
"it smacks of “retribution” and only continues the cycle of “politicizing” the work of the Justice Department in pursuing a political enemies last. I’m not contesting that one or both are likely true."
There's no "cycle" here. For that, you'd need the Republicans to have politicized the Justice Dept and the Democrats to have politicized it the other direction in response. The only fear here is to "start" a cycle by punishing the people who made political use of the Justice Dept.
It appears the purpose of this investigation would not be “retribution.” The word carries with it the meaning of action for personal revenge, and if it were so, the motive would be wrong. But these offenses had a serious effect on the electorate as well , that remains to this day. Half the nation believed the hoax, and did not believe exculpatory info like the Nunes Memo. We should never allow circumstances that cast doubt on the Commander in Chief’s loyalty to We the People for years. The investigation should be conducted formally.
With regard to the SOL, the conspiracy continued beyond 2020. Trump declassified the Russia Hoax binder and took it to Mar A Lago to review. It was stolen in the 11/8/22 raid, the start of lawfare to again keep the Office of the Presidency from him, and prevent the People from the full franchise.
Ship, I might seem like a complainer and a cynic, but there's nobody else who I always believe states the facts as they plainly are. sometimes hard to take. thank you.
If indictments/charges are brought, is it a foregone conclusion that DC would be the jurisdiction or could another jurisdiction be possible? From what I have seen from DC judges and juries I don’t have high confidence in a fair and impartial outcome.
This question is crucial if DOJ tries to go to trial. There are critical issues to analyze fully in public en route to that decision. I want to hear a thorough debate re venue now because we need exit strategies before potential "vindication" by the deeply compromised DC venire.
Ship walks a fine line here, and does it skillfully. Anyone who read the actual Steele declaration could see what a farce it was. Unsigned, undated, stream of consciousness, lack of personal knowledge, multiple hearsay. Any attorney with a brain would not present it to the lowest court in Alameda County. And yet it was presented to the federal FISA Court to trigger the most sophisticated, invasive, abusive surveillance on the Future President of the United States and his inner circle? Talk about Dirty Tricks! Brennan & Comey need to pay a price. Period. Full stop.
It seems that Brennan has a history of not accepting facts and forcing his beliefs to be pushed forward. Example, John Kiriakou, who after leaving the CIA over disgust with the Enhanced Interrogation Program (Torture Program), kept quiet. he went on to be the Senior Investigator for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. After leaving that role the truth about the torture program began to be whispered. ABC Reporter Brian Ross contacted Kiriakou and said that he had a source that he was in fact the one who had created the program. Kiriakou had, while stationed in Pakistan shortly after 9/11 had captured Abu Zubaydah, at the time thought to be number three in the al Qaeda network. Zubaydah was later tortured under the Enhanced Interrogation Program.
Kiriakou, fearing he was going to be blamed for the program finally agreed to an interview with Ross on ABC where he laid out the program and it's details. For this he was investigated by the FBI. During their investigation the FBI tried to further entrap Kiriakou. The FBI had a supposed Japanese Businessman try to get Kiriakou to pass secrets to him. After each meeting Kiriakou would submit detailed reports to the FBI describing what took place in the meetings. Eventually the "Businessman" informed Kiriakou that he was being recalled to Japan. It wasn't until Kiriakou was charged with espionage that he found in his discovery that the "businessman" was an FBI agent. After 3 years of investigating Kiriakou, shortly after Obama's second term began Brennan was named the Director of the CIA. At this time the DOJ charged Kiriakou with three counts of espionage which he vigorously fought racking up millions of dollars in legal fees. Again in his discovery was a memo form AG Eric Holder to CIA Director John Brennan that the FBI had investigated Kiriakou for three years and had nothing to charge him with. Brennen's responded to the email "Charge him anyway and make him defend himself". Well Lawfare won, Kiriakou eventually pleaded guilty to one count of revealing the name of an undercover agent. A name that was never released to the public. He made the mistake of confirming the name to a reporter. He now believes he was a trial run at what the left eventually did to President Trump with Lawfare. Throw as many charges at the intended target, prosecute them until they can't afford to defend themselves any longer and get them to plea. Kiriakou spent twenty-three months of a thirty month sentence in prison. He lost his pension, his family, but has but one regret. He didn't seek counsel before blowing the whistle on the CIA's Torture program.
To comment on this sentence “Voices in this arena that I very much respect are cautioning against going down this path as it smacks of “retribution” and only continues the cycle of “politicizing” the work of the Justice Department in pursuing a political enemies”. For the many reasons quoted in your article, I don’t understand how accountability for Brennen, Comey, et al, can be swept under the rug. Without retribution for the guilty parties, there will be no justice.
I already don’t have faith because of the way we were all treated during COVID. Very few governors, mayors, county officials, and even fewer public health people, treated American citizens with any thought to due process and other rights. There still needs to be accountability for those responsible.
I will consider Trump to be among the worst of the worst presidents if Fauchi and his gang aren't burned at the stake for their crimes against humanity. I know that's not going to happen. Epstein is the key to the destruction of the entire deep state. His attempting to sweep that mess under the rug is infuriating. Brennan, Comey, et al being jailed would at most be like getting a free two dollar scratch ticket as a prize.
I'm one of those that would not just vote for the commies, but donate and campaign for them because if all we get is nothing then I want it all burned down. If the Dems get back into power that's what will happen.
Trump did not sweep the Epstein debacle under the rug. It was suppressed by the Court due to the number of innocent people whose lives would be ruined by connection to the scandal. Trump needed to decide the pros and cons of National Interest in shutting it down. He made his decision.
Voices in this arena that I very much respect are cautioning against going down this path as it smacks of “retribution” and only continues the cycle of “politicizing” the work of the Justice Department in pursuing a political enemies”. I am tired of hearing this lame excuse to not punish those in government (Democrats) who abused their power, imprisoned and bankrupted opponents by the “process”. Until those who have done this - Mary McCord, Brennan, Comey, McCabe, OBAMA, etc. are dragged into court and forced to defend themselves, it will continue.
As I read this, I wonder….if a chef cooks a meal of poison, and orders the waiters, who know the meal is poison, to serve it to an individual, do we investigate/indict the waiters? Or is it the chef that is of prime interest? In other words, was Crossfire Hurricane the brainchild of Comey/Brennan, or were they ‘following orders’ from higher up, continuing with their malfeasance assuming that they would be protected by those more powerful. And if this is the case, why go after the criminal ‘waiters’, rather than the head chef??
What crimes might be disclosed by an investigation, besides perjury in testimony to Congress? Is it a crime to give false evidence to the FBI to knowingly induce it to start an investigation? Is it a crime for an FBI agent to start an investigation he knows is false of political enemies? It *is* a crime, notoriously used for selective prosecution, to lie to the FBI. Is that a possibility here?
Ship, I really appreciate the updates forthcoming on this investigation.
One more thing, I think the last act of this conspiracy to oust an elected President was in October 2020, when Biden presented the Intelligence memo stating the Hunter Laptop had all the marks of Russian disinfo, signed by 51 more liars in the IC.
This Insurrection is the scandal of the Century, followed closely by the “weekend at Bernie’s” presidency.
We sure live in interesting times.
What insurrection are you referring to? The 3 hours of protest?

Palm Beach, FL. The declassified Russia Hoax binder was stolen during the FBI raid in 2022.

Yes, impermissible even for schoolboys.
I still do not understand how those involved in falsely submitting FISA Warrant applications have thus far escaped prosecution?
True that!

And the pubs want to continue to play nice.
Not anymore!
So sad. Always liked him.
Nice write-up.

Worse, whatever faith remains in the system will be lost, leading us further down the road to a really bad place where everything is lost.
There's not that much road left.

Need another word, without the prefix “re.”

I pride myself on keeping up with the news, but I don't remember half of this. Thanks for putting it together. I'll pay more attention!
I remember all of it. A bad nightmare that was all over facebook. I remember The Plot Against the President documentary by Lee Smith.

They are all guilty. Knowledge is powerful.
Thanks for the update. You are among my top 3 must-read authors.

Anything involving knowingly false information shared for a purpose smacks of a crime.

I used to like Jim Comey. As Director he was a breath of fresh air after Mueller.
I knew enough about him and his moralizing "Holier Than Thou" personality to know in advance he would ultimately be a disappointment.
And you were right.
